Porsche 928 S — Alberni Grand Tour

Five days.
Five hundred miles.
Infinite stories.

The Alberni Grand Tour is a private, invitation-only driving event for a small group of close friends — and their partners — who share a passion for beautiful machines, exceptional roads, and the pleasure of experiencing remarkable places together.

This is not merely a driving event. Between the mountain passes and the ferry crossings, the tour stops at extraordinary locations, explores local scenery and culture, enjoys the finest regional cuisine, and creates the kind of memories that take years to fully appreciate. The cars are the means; the connections are the point.

The Roads
The Roads
Hand-selected for character — cliff-hugging coastal drives, alpine passes above the treeline, and river canyon highways that reward every car in the convoy differently.
The Scenery
The Scenery
From the old-growth forests of Vancouver Island to the turquoise glacial lakes of the North Cascades — the Pacific Northwest at its most dramatic, seen from the best possible vantage point.
The Cuisine
The Cuisine
Dinners at mountain lodges, Bavarian feasts during Oktoberfest, fresh-pressed apple cider from Methow Valley orchards, and farm-to-table breakfasts above Snoqualmie Falls.
The Hotels
The Hotels
Four nights in exceptional lodges and spa resorts chosen for their character, not just their comfort. Each one feels earned after a day behind the wheel.
The Locations
The Locations
Winthrop's Old West boardwalks, Leavenworth's Bavarian village, Deception Pass, the San Juan Islands — each stop is a destination in its own right.

Day
I
Friday — Departure
Port Alberni to Bellingham
The convoy assembles at 3:30pm and heads south to Duke Point. The 5:45pm BC Ferries sailing carries the group across the Strait of Georgia through the Gulf Islands as the sun sets. Cross into Washington State at Peace Arch and arrive at the Bellwether for a late dinner.

Day
II
Saturday — The Flagship Drive
Chuckanut Drive & the North Cascades
The centrepiece of the tour. Chuckanut Drive clings to the cliffs above Puget Sound before the route turns east into the North Cascades. Diablo Lake — its waters an impossible turquoise — gives way to Washington Pass at 5,477 feet. Brunch in Bow-Edison, sundowners in Winthrop. October colour makes this one of the great drives on the continent.

III
Sunday — Valley & Village
Methow Valley to Leavenworth
A leisurely morning through the Methow River valley — apple cider farm stands, galleries in Twisp, and the wide open roads of US-97 heading south through orchard country. Arrive in Leavenworth as Oktoberfest is in full swing: an entire Bavarian village transplanted into the Cascade foothills, with cobblestone streets, timber-framed restaurants, and excellent German beer.

Monday — The Canyon Road
Stevens Pass to Snoqualmie Falls
US-2 west follows the Wenatchee River through a tight canyon of sweeping bends and centuries-old Douglas fir. Stevens Pass crests at 4,061 feet before the descent into the western Cascades. The Snoqualmie Valley wineries await in the afternoon, and the day ends perched above an 82-metre waterfall taller than Niagara.

Tuesday — The Return
Deception Pass to Home
North to Deception Pass — Washington's most dramatic state park, where a steel bridge spans a tidal channel with currents that would stop a ship. The afternoon Washington State Ferry from Anacortes threads through the San Juan Islands on a three-hour crossing back to Sidney, BC. Home to Port Alberni via Cathedral Grove — a final walk among 800-year-old Douglas firs before the cars come to rest.

Not every car
qualifies.

01
It Must Arouse Passion
There are no age restrictions or manufacturer requirements. The single test is this: does the car provoke an emotional response? Does it turn heads, start conversations, and deserve the roads it will travel? If yes, it belongs.
02
It Must Be a Driver's Car
A car chosen because it is genuinely rewarding to drive — not merely comfortable or convenient. The roads on this tour deserve a machine that engages, responds, and rewards the person behind the wheel.
03
Not a Daily Driver
This car should mean something. It should have been chosen deliberately, maintained with care, and driven with attention. If it is entirely ordinary to its owner, it is not the right car for this journey.
04
Participation by Invitation
Vehicle eligibility is necessary but not sufficient. The Alberni Grand Tour is a private event; an invitation is required to participate. We are looking for people as much as machines.
"The Alberni Grand Tour is not a race, not a concours, and not a road trip. It is something rarer — a journey made with people who understand why it matters."
— The Organising Committee

This tour is
by invitation only.

The Alberni Grand Tour is a private event for a small number of participants and their partners. If you believe your car, your company, and your spirit of adventure would make a worthy addition to the convoy, we would be glad to hear from you.
